# Add a note to an incident

> Write a note on an incident's timeline.

POST /api/v1/alerts/incidents/{id}/notes
```

Adds a note to the [timeline](https://docs.molesignal.com/en-US/api/alerting/incident-timeline.md) of an incident, of any status. Mole
Agent reads the latest notes with the incident. The call requires `alerts.incidents.update`.

**Body**

The response is the timeline entry of the note.

**Errors**

| Status | Cause |
| - | - |
| `400` | `text` is empty or longer than 4,000 characters. |
| `403` | The token lacks `alerts.incidents.update`, or the incident is out of the token's reach. |
| `404` | The incident does not exist. |
